My Solo Traveling Story
I created Soul Destinations to help inspire people, especially solo/independent travelers, to make the vacation of their dreams. I began traveling solo over ten years ago to break away from the everyday routine and to reflect and restore.
One of my first solo experiences was a weekend getaway in North Carolina. Initially, I was nervous and unsure if I had made the best decision. When it was time to leave, I thought about my next solo trip.
I enjoy vacationing with my family and friends, but there is something special about traveling alone. It is your schedule. You can decide when and where you want to go and what you want to eat without other people’s opinions.
If you want to sleep in and stay in bed most of the day or go site seeing, you can. It is such a liberating experience. Something fearful is now empowering. I stepped out of my comfort zone, went to different places, tried different foods, tried various activities, and met some amazing people.
If you are interested in traveling solo, I encourage you to do it. Do some self-reflection and determine what is best for you. You might decide to start small and travel to a location that only requires a short flight or drive, which is okay.

The goal of solo traveling is not always about places but about having experiences that feed the soul.
